"Truckyard", is a small map in Garry's Mod for the Zombie Survival gamemode. It was developed by Kevdu

Truckyard was the first-ever map created by Kevdu, it underwent continuous development from 2019 and 2022 before being officially released on the workshop in 2022. There are a dozen older versions of the map under the name zs_truckyard. Truckyard v5 was created as the final remaster featuring many optimization, design and balance changes, but the map has been occasionally been updated.

Design

The theme is heavily inspired by the hit-game, Half-Life 2

Older versions of the map lack a lot of outdoor geometry compared to the later releases. Earlier versions were also hard for the survivors to win due to the cading spots being close to Zombie Spawn. The map has been easier for the humans but still holds around less than a 15% win rate, as the map was designed to be difficult.

Gameplay

Butcher's Den is a multi-focus house map with a small barn located ~512 hammer units away from the back of the house. The overall playable space of the map is ~30722 hammer units. The z-spawns average ~1536 hammer units away from the closest engagement points.

The map has multiple variety of props to barricade with, making it very friendly to the caders, but at a cost of heavy close-cornered choke points that force sightlines to be broken off, and easily ambushed by multiple zombies. The map is very small and does not allow players to stand on the roof of buildings.

Development

The map only features Half-life 2 content. Older versions of the map were smaller, and version 1 only features half of the map, where the zombie spawn was located at the end of the street.

Tips

- There is a redeeming spot on top of the water tower, and it also has a room with a T1 rifle and rifle ammo.

- There is a shovel hidden behind the zombie spawn.

- Be careful as the map has many explosive barrels and junk scattered around, you risk getting prop killed.

- Caders should try to nail all props to the wall or ceiling, as there are plenty of props and players will very easily risk moving the props unintentionally and creating a mess.
