"Last Call", is a city map in Garry's Mod for the Zombie Survival gamemode. It was developed by johnny moe

Last Call was designed for the "Post-Apocalyptic" themed, 16th Sunrust Mapping Contest hosted between May 17th and July 1st of 2023. The map was developed in just over a month and finished in 1st place. This is the first map to feature a handful of props by johnny moe who had just begun learning Blender. These props include: Last Call bar sign, courthouse text, Sunrust neon sign, and commercial storefront doors.

Design

The houseplan that was sampled

The map is set in a nondescript city in the United States a few days after an unknown apocalyptic event unfolds. There is no electricity, no food, and everyone is attempting to escape.

Gameplay

Topdown of the playable space

Butcher's Den is a multi-focus house map with a small barn located ~512 hammer units away from the back of the house. The overall playable space of the map is ~30722 hammer units. The z-spawns average ~1536 hammer units away from the closest engagement points.

There are several potential sigil locations, many of which are single-entrance with only a few double entrances.

Development

The map makes use of assets from Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike: Source, Resistance and Liberation, Stuffy for the dirt/grass blend + models, and Korrespond who made three neon signs for the bar windows.
