The way insanity works is that there are many different levels/tiers you can be on that can cause different insanity effects. Upon buying items from the banished sigil, you will see a message "You feel your sanity decreasing...", stating that you will now encounter insanity effects on your screen. Continuing to buy more items from banished sigil and you will begin to see more and more insanity effects along the way. Up until you will see lethal insanity effects of which can either cause you to teleport to the z-gas, lasers to come up, or blades coming to your body to kill you. However, many of these can be countered and even preventable if you know how insanity works.
Non-lethal Insanity Effects are effects that can happen at any time, and cannot be stopped, many of the effects affect vision or give some debuff.

There are three lethal insanity effects:

* Several lasers appear in various positions, after 5 seconds, the lasers begin to deal damage, moving too far away from the lasers can deal damage.
== Tips ==
** This effect is a bit difficult to dodge, and in some places may not work because it is small, to prevent it, you have to find a good position that is not touching the lasers, if the place has no good position to escape from, the best option is to try to stay in the air and reduce the lasers' damage to a minimum. <!-- need an improvement -->

* Several blades appear pointing at the player, this effect only happens when the player is not crouching, After 3 seconds, the blades will move toward the player, and deal 200 damage to the player if he doesn't dodge them.
In order to prevent insanity, the best way is to not buy any item from the banished sigil. If you want the items from it, the solution would be to wait until somebody dies with it and then you can obtain the banished item without buying from the banished sigil. (NOTE: you do not obtain any insanity progress if you loot banished items and not buy them).
** To dodge this effect, you must crouch before the blades hit you.

* "Teleporting to the zombie spawn", this effect is similar to teleporting to the [[Sigils|sigil]] but teleporting to the zombie spawn instead as the name says, at some higher levels of insanity, this effect may appear with extra progress.
If you still want to buy banished sigil items but not to have insanity effects, then the solution is to not buy anything above 50 points. This means that you can still buy [[Hunter Chalice|Hunter Chalice]] while not having any insanity progress. However, buying two of hunter chalices will get you to tier one insanity.
** Teleporting to the zombie spawn, this effect is similar to teleporting to the sigil some higher levels of insanity, you can have a percentage of progress.

Insanity effects are effects that can happen during the game after you have spent a certain amount of points in Banished Sigil, many of the effects only affect vision, but at high levels of insanity, the effects can give some debuff or hurt the player.

Insanity effects have six levels, which get higher as you spend more points in Banished Sigil, and higher levels begin to have lethal effects that can begin to damage the user or greatly affect vision.

Non-Lethal Insanity Effects

Non-lethal Insanity Effects are effects that can happen at any time, and cannot be stopped, many of the effects affect vision or give some debuff.

Some insanity effects only appear at higher levels, and others that are conditional.

Lethal Insanity Effects

Lethal Insanity Effects can rarely happen, depending on the level of insanity, these effects are considered lethal, as the name says, that can kill the player if not prevented or dodged.

There are three lethal insanity effects:

  • Several lasers appear in various positions, after 5 seconds, the lasers begin to deal damage, moving too far away from the lasers can deal damage.
    • This effect is a bit difficult to dodge, and in some places may not work because it is small, to prevent it, you have to find a good position that is not touching the lasers, if the place has no good position to escape from, the best option is to try to stay in the air and reduce the lasers' damage to a minimum.
  • Several blades appear pointing at the player, this effect only happens when the player is not crouching, After 3 seconds, the blades will move toward the player, and deal 200 damage to the player if he doesn't dodge them.
    • To dodge this effect, you must crouch before the blades hit you.
  • "Teleporting to the zombie spawn", this effect is similar to teleporting to the sigil but teleporting to the zombie spawn instead as the name says, at some higher levels of insanity, this effect may appear with extra progress.
    • Teleporting to the zombie spawn, this effect is similar to teleporting to the sigil some higher levels of insanity, you can have a percentage of progress.
